First Man Standing

Violence against women is not a women’s issue; it’s a human issue. And if violence against women is to end, we need men to help challenge the attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate it – in themselves, and in other men.

That's why we’ve launched the First Man Standing campaign. We have over 1000 members to date, committed to standing up and speaking out about violence against women – be it in their families, churches or workplaces about violence against women.

What you can do

We’re asking men to do three things:

  1. Respect all women.
  2. Challenge other men when they display negative attitudes towards women.
  3. Sign up to the White Ribbon pledge never to commit, condone, or remain silent about men's violence against women in all its forms.

Let’s stand up and be part of a movement for change together.

Take it further

Sign up to be a First Man Standing. Join over 1000 other men at the forefront of a movement for change. For those who sign up to our newsletter, we will send out more ideas and tips about how to be a First Man Standing in your daily life, as well as updates on how the campaign is developing.

Take a deeper look at what the Bible says about being a man with our seven First Man Standing Bible studies.

Be inspired

Visit our story project at www.firstmanstanding.com to read about how men who are First Men Standing in their communities, families and workplaces. We want to learn from each other what standing up to sexism and violence against women looks like – and reading some of these inspiring stories is a great place to start.

As men stand up and show through their actions and words that they fully respect all women, we will change lives and transform culture.
