Day 1 : Meeting an inspirational peacebuilder

25 November 2014 — Mandy Marshall — Blog

Hello and welcome to Restored! Thank you very much for taking part in our 16 days of activism. We really appreciate your support and efforts to help raise the awareness of violence against women!

For those of you who don’t know who we are, Restored is an international Christian alliance working to transform relationships and end violence against women. We are hoping to raise awareness of domestic abuse over the next 16 days by posting a blog a day, encouraging people to download them and become an activist with one simple act! Our first blog is by Sara Kandiah reflecting on the Coventry International Peace Prize which Restored was also fortunate enough to attend. Be sure to read about the winner, Therese Mema Mapenzi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The prize was awarded to Therese for her incredible efforts in supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse by setting up speaking rooms in the DRC.  Please follow the link to read it. http://apeacejournal.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/meeting-inspirational-peacebuilder.html

Start your 16 days of Activism to End Violence Against Women off in style by ordering a white ribbon here. Wear the ribbon on the dreaded commute to work, whilst you’re grabbing your morning coffee, picking up your children from school and to church on a Sunday. By wearing the white ribbon all over town you will be raising the awareness of domestic violence against women. You’re now fully equipped to be a walking advertisement for the cause and so let’s get you started on your 16 days of activism!

HOT HOT HOT just off the press! Therese Mema Mapenzi interviewed by the Independent, read it here first.
