Violence against women is one of the biggest issues of our time.

According to UN Women:

  • An estimated 35% of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or sexual violence by a non-partner at some point in their lives.
  • An estimated 133 million girls and women have experienced some form of female genital mutilation/cutting across Africa and the Middle East.
  • Around 120 million girls worldwide (c.10%) have experienced forced intercourse or other forced sexual acts at some point in their lives.
  • Women aged 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than from cancer, car accidents, war and malaria, according to World Bank data.
